Description
Launched in 2024, the scheme "NAMO Shree Scheme" by the Women and Child Development Department, Government of Gujarat, aims to ensure that every pregnant woman and lactating mother of the state gets proper nutritional support and also encourages them to have institutional deliveries for women's empowerment and improving maternal health. The scheme provides financial assistance of ₹12,000/- to eligible women beneficiaries and covers expenses from conception to delivery of the child. The applicant must be Gujarat's pregnant woman or a lactating mother, whose family income is not more than ₹8,00,000/- per year, and must deliver a child in any government or private hospital. The scheme is implemented by the Women and Child Development Department of the Gujarat Government, and registration under this scheme is done at the time of the first antenatal check-up through an Accredited Social Health Activist or Auxiliary Nurse Midwife Worker at the nearest Anganwadi Centre.
