Overview

Launched in 2014, the scheme "Swachh Bharat Mission – Grameen Phase I " by the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India, aims to eliminate open defecation in rural India through behavioral change and construction of household and community toilets. Through this scheme, financial assistance and awareness interventions for toilet construction were provided to poor, underprivileged, and marginalized households in rural areas. Objectives: 1. To bring about mass-scale behavior change regarding sanitation and hygiene 1. To ensure the construction and usage of household-owned and community-owned toilets 1. To establish an accountable mechanism for achieving ODF Open Defecation Free India 1. To promote Solid and Liquid Waste Management SLWM
Exclusions
• Households already possessing functional toilets were not eligible for the financial assistance.

- In the tabs provided at the bottom of the page, click on the "All Services" tab. From the list of departments, click on "Department of Scientific and Industrial Research".
- Under the selected department, choose the service you want to apply for. You will be taken to the Online Application Form.
- In the application form, fill in all the mandatory fields and upload all the required documents in the specified format and size.
- Carefully review all the information provided and the documents uploaded. Make any necessary corrections, if required. Acknowledge and agree to the terms and conditions, declaration, and privacy policy, if any.
