Scheme Overview

The scheme promotes clean mobility and electric vehicle adoption in the Greater Shillong Planning Area, while supporting green entrepreneurship and sustainable transport through financial incentives.

Eligibility Criteria

The applicant must be a permanent resident of Meghalaya.

The applicant must be between 18 and 58 years of age.

The applicant must hold a valid driving license.

The applicant must be a resident of the Greater Shillong Planning Area (GSPA).

The applicant must not be a credit defaulter with any bank.

The entity must provide a valid Incorporation Certificate or Registration Certificate, as applicable.

The entity must be a recognized and registered taxicab operator, organization, Self Help Group (SHG), or cooperative based in the Greater Shillong Planning Area (GSPA).

The entity must have a registered office or a license to operate city taxis in the Greater Shillong Planning Area.

50% of on-road vehicle cost supported (5% by the entrepreneur, 45% by the Government of Meghalaya)

5% EMI co-payment support for 12 months (conditional on minimum 1500 km/month traffic compliance)

Credit linkage through partnered banks (MRB, MCAB, SBI, Shillong Co-operative Urban Bank)

Branding cost of vehicle borne by the Government (one-time)

Waiver of registration charges up to ₹1 lakh under Meghalaya Vehicle Scrappage Policy 2025

Rebate on motor vehicle tax up to 15% for scrapping old diesel/petrol taxis

Total maximum subsidy capped at ₹5,00,000 per vehicle
