The scheme "Chief Minister’s Housing Assistance Programme" by the Housing Department, Government of Meghalaya, aims to provide durable housing to EWS and LIG families. Through this scheme, roofing materials and dwelling houses are provided to eligible families in the State.

Description
The scheme "Chief Minister’s Housing Assistance Programme" by the Housing Department, Government of Meghalaya, aims to assist economically weaker and low-income families by providing durable housing support. Through this scheme, roofing materials or dwelling houses are provided to Economically Weaker Section EWS and Low Income Group LIG families residing in Meghalaya. Objectives: - To provide durable roofing materials to improve existing houses for the Economically Weaker Section EWS families. - To provide dwelling houses to the low-income group LIG families living in the State.

Exclusions
• Households owning any pucca house in Meghalaya.
• Households that received a prior housing loan/advance from the government.

Benefits
• Three bundles of 9-foot-long GCI sheets (roofing material) for EWS households as an outright grant.
• Construction of a durable house with a carpet area of a minimum of 19.20 sqm (207 sq. ft) with at least 2 rooms for LIG households as a credit-linked subsidy.
• Financial assistance up to ₹75,000 under the Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme for LIG houses.
• Additional cost to be borne by beneficiary through own resources, MGNREGS, SRWP, or bank loan.
• Houses to be constructed as per government-approved model (Annexure-A).
• Land ownership and geo-tagging are mandatory for the beneficiary.

Eligibility Criteria
1. The applicant should be a bona fide resident of the State of Meghalaya.
2. The applicant should belong to the Economically Weaker Section (annual income up to ₹1,00,000) or the Low Income Group (income between ₹1,00,001 and ₹2,00,000).
3. The applicant should be 18 years of age or above.
4. The applicant should not have any other member from the same family living under the same roof as a beneficiary under the same scheme.
5. The applicant should not own a pucca house in their or any family member's name.
6. The applicant should possess their own land (for construction in case of a dwelling house).
7. The applicant should submit the EPIC (Electors' Photo Identity Card) or any other valid document as proof of residence.
8. The applicant should not have received any previous housing loan or financial aid from any other government source in their or their spouse’s name.
9. The applicant should construct the house personally and not through a contractor.
