Description
The scheme “Vidhyadeep Yojana” was launched by the Education Department, Government of Gujarat. The scheme aims to provide insurance cover to students studying in primary, secondary, and higher secondary schools in the State. The scheme provides maximum financial assistance up to ₹50,000/- per student in case of accidental death or permanent total disability. The scheme is implemented by the State Insurance Fund Directorate of Insurance or private/public sector general insurance companies. The applications for this scheme are accepted by the Office of the District Primary Education Officer / District Education Officer / Administrative Officer through the Principal of the school concerned .

Exclusions
• The claim will not be accepted if the death or injury is due to suicide or attempted suicide, natural death, or any act against the law.
• The claim will not be accepted if the death or injury is caused by any disease, age-related factors, food poisoning, or polio.
• The claim will not be accepted if the death or injury is due to the deceased's gross negligence, such as driving a vehicle without an effective and valid driving license as per the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988, Section 3.

Benefits
• ₹50,000/- per student.
• In case of loss of two eyes or both limbs or arm/leg due to accident: ₹50,000/-.
• In case of loss of one eye and one limb due to accident: ₹50,000/-.
• In case of loss of one eye or one limb due to accident: ₹25,000/-.
• The incident must be unexpected, sudden, and unintentional, and show visible signs of external violence.
• The claim application must be submitted to the Nodal Officer within ninety (90) days from the date of the accident or death.
• The benefit amount must not be paid for more than one category if the beneficiary is covered under multiple categories of the overall scheme.

The claim will also be permanently closed twelve months after the date of the accident/death, and no reconsideration request will be accepted thereafter.
*If a claim is rejected, the beneficiary or their heir must first submit a representation to the designated Review Committee within thirty (30) days.
*Legal action against the Review Committee's decision can only be pursued after filing the review, and the legal/quasi-judicial/judicial jurisdiction is exclusively in Gandhinagar.
*Claim inquiries or representations must be made only by the applicant or beneficiary themselves, excluding any third parties like agents or lawyers.
