The Meghalaya Piggery Development Scheme is a component of the Chief Minister’s CM-ELEVATE Program launched by the Government of Meghalaya. It aims to employ, engage, and empower youth and rural communities by promoting piggery entrepreneurship through easy access to credit and subsidies.
Eligibility Criteria
**Individuals**
The applicant should be between 18 and 58 years of age.
The entrepreneur should possess land, either self-owned or on lease, verified by the competent authority.
Preference for availing loans will be given to entrepreneurs and entities with prior experience in undertaking piggery.
The entrepreneur should have access to adequate and quality feed for the pigs.
The entrepreneur should have a vaccination scheme in place for the pigs.
The entrepreneur should have a plan for marketing the pigs and their products.
The entrepreneur’s village should be in an area where pig rearing is feasible.
The distance between the entrepreneur’s village and the nearest market should be reasonable.
The entrepreneur should not be a credit defaulter with any bank.
The entrepreneur should possess self-owned land or notarized lease land (≥15 years).
**Registered Entities**
The entrepreneur should be a registered entity from Meghalaya, such as a Cooperative, Farmer Producer Company (FPC), Farmer Producer Organization (FPO), or any other legally registered group in the state.
