Description
The " Chief Minister’s CM-ELEVATE Program" , launched by the Government of Meghalaya under the Planning Department, aims to promote entrepreneurship and improve livelihoods across the state. Under this program, the "Meghalaya Piggery Development Scheme" has been introduced to employ, engage, and empower youth and rural communities by promoting piggery entrepreneurship through easy access to credit and subsidies.

Exclusions
• State and Central Government employees
• Employees of public sector undertakings, subsidiaries of public sector undertakings and divisions of public sector undertakings etc.
• Any individual whose job is concerned with politics such MLAs, MLCs, MPs etc. or seeking to hold a similar position in government
• Registered class-1 contractors
• Consultants who are currently engaged with state or central government

Eligibility Criteria

2. The applicant should be between 18 and 58 years of age.
3. The entrepreneur should possess land, either self-owned or on lease, verified by the competent authority.
4. Preference for availing loans will be given to entrepreneurs and entities with prior experience in undertaking piggery.
5. The entrepreneur should have access to adequate and quality feed for the pigs.
6. The entrepreneur should have a vaccination scheme in place for the pigs.
7. The entrepreneur should have a plan for marketing the pigs and their products.
8. The entrepreneur’s village should be in an area where pig rearing is feasible.
9. The distance between the entrepreneur’s village and the nearest market should be reasonable.
10. The entrepreneur should not be a credit defaulter with any bank.
11. The entrepreneur should possess self-owned land or notarized lease land (≥15 years).
12. **Registered Entities**
13. The entrepreneur should be a registered entity from Meghalaya, such as a Cooperative, Farmer Producer Company (FPC), Farmer Producer Organization (FPO), or any other legally registered group in the state.
14. The entrepreneur should possess land, either self-owned or on lease, verified by the competent authority
15. The entrepreneur should possess a training certificate on the sector applied for from a recognized Institution, preferably from a Government Institute

A: Meghalaya Pig Farming Initiative Scheme is a credit linked scheme launched by Animal Husbandry &amp; Veterinary Department under which financial aid of 50% is provided on the total cost of the project to start pig farming.
