The scheme "Empower ST/SC Communities using ICT Tools through IT Knowledge Centre ITKC " by the Department of Information Technology, Electronics and Communication, Government of Goa aims to create a large pool of computer literate manpower which will be helpful for state to make introducing e-governance solutions meaningful and enabling the citizens for quality job opportunities in IT Software/IT enabled services including BPO. This scheme is implemented through the IT Knowledge Centres ITKCs located at various areas in the State. M/s Info Tech Corporations of Goa Ltd is the implementing agency of these ITKCs. Objectives - To provide basic computer skills to the local youth, housewives and other citizens. - To provide various Job-oriented IT Training courses including training for BPO Operations/ Call Center Executives. - To provide structural training programmes depending on the needs. - To make at least one person in each family in the State as an IT Literate. Vision - To bridge the gap between the 'Information Poor and the Information Rich' - For the creation of a society which is ready to capitalize on Knowledge for economic and social development - IT Knowledge Centers to work as social and economic catalysts for the overall development of society. - To empower individuals and communities through enhanced access to information, education and communication facilities.
