Braille Equipment Provision

Any person who is certified as visually impaired and requires assistive devices to aid in their education, mobility, communication, or entertainment can apply for Braille equipment under this scheme. <br> <br>

The National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities, also known as NIEPVD, located in Dehradun, is the primary agency responsible for implementing and managing this scheme. <br> <br>

The scheme provides a wide range of Braille equipment including Braille typewriters, Braille slates, styluses, electronic Braille readers, mobility aids, and computer-compatible Braille tools to support education and day-to-day tasks. <br> <br>

Yes, recognized special schools and institutions that cater to visually impaired students are also eligible to receive Braille equipment at subsidized rates under this scheme. <br> <br>

The Braille equipment is provided at subsidized rates, which means the beneficiaries or institutions are required to pay only a partial cost while the rest is covered by the implementing agency. <br> <br>

Applicants are required to submit a valid Disability Certificate, a Unique Disability ID (UDID) Card or Aadhaar Card, and a filled application form, along with any additional institutional affiliation proof in the case of schools or NGOs. <br> <br>

The applicant should visit the NIEPVD office in Dehradun and submit an application along with the required documents to request the provision of suitable Braille equipment. <br> <br>

To place an order, the applicant must fill in the order format with all required details such as item names, quantities, and rates, and submit it along with the payment through Bank Draft, NEFT, or RTGS. <br> <br>

The payment must be made in the name of Director, NIVH, addressed at 116-Rajpur Road, Dehradun using Bank Draft, NEFT, or RTGS methods. <br> <br>

In addition to the cost of the appliances, applicants are required to pay 10% packing charges and freight charges as applicable, along with 5% GST on the total. <br> <br>

The payment should be made to Account Number: 6185000100023598, held in the name of Director, NIVH.
