Employment in India — UDYAM, MGNREGA and Sarkari Naukri

India's employment landscape — registered MSMEs, MGNREGA wage employment, and live government job notifications.

India\'s formal employment data lives across three large public databases: UDYAM (40+ million MSME registrations under the Ministry of MSME), MGNREGA (the world\'s largest rural wage-employment programme with 270+ million job cards) and the SSC / UPSC / state-PSC government job notification stream. DeshSeva indexes all three.

For entrepreneurs, UDYAM registration is now mandatory for the priority lending and MSE subsidy benefits. For job-seekers, the Sarkari Naukri tracker covers every notification we crawl from SarkariResult and the official government portals — filterable by category, state, organisation and salary band. For rural workers, MGNREGA district pages show live wage rates, person-days generated and works completed.

Frequently asked questions

How do I register my business under UDYAM?

Visit https://udyamregistration.gov.in/ — registration is free and online, requires only an Aadhaar (proprietor / partner / director) and PAN. Once registered, you receive a permanent 19-digit UDYAM Registration Number that unlocks priority sector lending, MSE-CDP, ZED certification and other MSME benefits. UDYAM has fully replaced the older Udyog Aadhaar Memorandum (UAM) since 1 July 2020.

How is MGNREGA wage rate decided?

MGNREGA wage rates are notified by the central government under Section 6(1) of the MGNREG Act. They're revised annually using the CPI-AL (Consumer Price Index for Agricultural Labourers) and vary by state — see the per-state district pages on /tools/mgnrega for the latest notified rates.

Where do I find Sarkari Naukri notifications?

DeshSeva's /sarkari-naukri hub aggregates notifications from SarkariResult and the official ministry portals. You can filter by salary band, organisation (e.g. SSC, UPSC, IBPS), state, or category. Each leaf page links to the official source PDF and the apply portal.

What is the eligibility for the PMEGP loan scheme?

PMEGP (Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme) provides margin-money subsidy for setting up new micro-enterprises in non-farm sectors. Eligibility: any individual above 18 with at least Class VIII pass for projects above ₹10 lakh (manufacturing) / ₹5 lakh (service). See the PMEGP scheme page for the full eligibility matrix.
