Launched on 15th August 1972, "Swatantrata Sainik Samman Pension Scheme" is a Pension Scheme by the Ministry of Home Affairs. The scheme provides the grant of pension to living freedom fighters and their families; if they are no more alive, and to the families or martyrs.
Under this scheme, credit of up to Rs. 20 lacs under Credit Line-1 and up to Rs. 30 lacs under Credit line -2 is extended to beneficiaries among minority communities at 6% p.a. & 8% p.a. respectively for financing economically viable income generation ventures.
The scheme aims to provide a pension scheme for senior citizens. Through this scheme, immediate annuity, pension, and return of purchase price on death are provided to citizens aged 60 years and above.
