Description
The scheme "Yashwantrao Chavan Mukta Vasahat Yojana for VJNTs" was launched by the Department of Social Justice & Special Assistance, Government of Maharashtra. The scheme aims to enhance the quality of life of the Vimukta Jati and Nomadic Tribe VJNT families by developing sustainable income sources and promoting economic stability. Each family will receive a plot of land measuring 5 gunthas approximately 500 square meters or about 5,382 square feet . This plot of land will include the construction of a 269-square-foot home as part of the assistance provided under the scheme.

• *The land for the house shall be given under this scheme on the names of the husband and wife jointly. However, in the case of widow and divorcee, land and house shall be given by their name.
• *The land allotted under this scheme is non-transferable, it will not be sold to anyone. The house or land should not be given on rent.

Eligibility Criteria
1. The family of the applicant should be residing in Maharashtra.
2. The family of the applicant should belong to the original VJNT (Vimukta Jati and Nomadic Tribes) category.
3. The family of the applicant should not be having their own house.
4. The family of the applicant should be residing in a tent house or hut.
5. The family of the applicant should be landless.
6. The family of the applicant should be residing in one place for at least six months and, for the remaining months, should be wandering from village to village for livelihood.
7. The annual income of the family of the applicant should be less than ₹1,00,000/-.
8. The family of the applicant should not have availed of the benefits of any other housing scheme such as Gharkul etc.
9. The benefit of this scheme will be given to one member only of the eligible family.
10. _*Priority shall be given to families living in tents, with no earning hand widows, divorcees, handicapped and flood-affected persons._

For implementation, a committee headed by the Collector of the concerned district level and a committee headed by the Sub Divisional Officer for the Tahasil level is constituted.
Selection of land, selection of beneficiaries, building the houses on the land by making layout and making of infrastructure, to creating self-employment by giving benefits of various Government schemes are the main tasks of these Committees.
