Scheme Overview
The scheme aims to strengthen scientific and technical capacity of researchers, students, and government personnel in the field of Remote Sensing and Geographic Information System (GIS) applications by providing training, conducting capacity-building programmes, and supporting research initiatives.
Eligibility Criteria
The following are eligible to participate in the Training and Capacity Building Programme:
Students who have passed a Postgraduate degree (preferably in the Science stream) with First Division from any recognized university in India.
Final semester/year postgraduate students (preferably from the Science stream) of any recognized university (private, state, or central) in India.
Personnel from the Central Government and various line departments of the State Government.
Graduate and higher-level students from government, private, and central universities or colleges within the state.

Benefits
Researchers are selected for scientific research projects funded by the Central and State Governments and trained in Remote Sensing and GIS applications. The training is provided free of cost. Selected researchers (JRFs/SRFs/Project Scientists) receive stipends (including HRA) as per the regulations of the respective funding organizations. Researchers are required to make their own arrangements for food and accommodation.
The program also offers training in Remote Sensing and GIS applications to postgraduate students in their final semester/year of study at various universities across the state, as well as to undergraduate students through internships. The training is free of cost, and students are expected to arrange their own food and accommodation during the training period.
Capacity-building programs in Remote Sensing and GIS are organized periodically for various line departments based on their requirements. No participation fees are charged from these departments. Boarding and lodging during these programs are arranged by the concerned departments with the support of U-SAC.
Workshops on Geographic Information Systems are also organized periodically in degree colleges and schools across the state, as per requests and requirements, to motivate students towards space technology. U-SAC provides free one-day training sessions along with complimentary meals and transportation; however, accommodation is not provided.
