Overview

Under this scheme, widows and destitute women aged 18 years and above are eligible for a pension if they are domiciles of Haryana and have been residing in the state for at least one year at the time of application submission.

Description
The "Pension to Widows and Destitute Women" scheme was introduced by the Government of Haryana in the financial year 1980-81. The aim of the scheme is to provide social security to women who cannot sustain themselves and need financial assistance. Under this scheme, widows and destitute women aged 18 years and above are eligible for a pension if they are domiciles of Haryana and have been residing in the state for at least one year at the time of application submission.

Exclusions
• A woman employed by any Government or by any Local/Statutory Body or any organization substantially financed by any Government or Local/Statutory Body or who is drawing pension or family pension there from will not be eligible under this scheme.
• “Pension” wherever occurring in any Government notification concerning Social Security Benefits means and includes, income received or accrued from accumulated earnings, including the following schemes:
• Provident Funds
• Annuities from any source including Commercial Banks, Financial Institutions or Insurance.

• Under this scheme, a pension of ₹2,500/- per month is given to widows and destitute women.

Eligibility Criteria
1. The applicant should be a permanent resident of Haryana.
2. The applicant should meet one of the following conditions:
3. • Be a widow.
4. • Be a destitute woman without a husband, parents, or children.
5. • Be a destitute woman due to desertion or the physical/mental incapacity of her husband (for married women) or parents (for other women).
6. The applicant should be 18 years of age or older.
7. The applicant's annual income from all sources should be less than ₹2,00,000/-.
