Scheme Overview

The scheme aims to ensure long-term financial sustainability of the Tea industry and to incentivize manufacturers to move from Crush, Tear, Curl tea to Orthodox tea production. The scheme is implemented by the Finance Department and the Industries & Commerce Department, Government of Assam.

Eligibility Criteria

- The applicant must be a tea plantation across all sizes

- The applicant must be a tea manufacturing unit manufacturing Crush, Tear, Curl Tea, Orthodox Tea, or Speciality tea including Green tea, Oolong Tea, White tea, Yellow tea and Purple tea

- The applicant must be located entirely in Assam

- The applicant must not have any part of the plantation or manufacturing facility located outside the State of Assam

**Production Subsidy Specific Eligibility**

- The applicant must be manufacturing Orthodox tea, Green tea, White tea, Oolong tea, Singhpo tea, Purple Tea, Yellow tea or other Speciality tea (not manufactured through Crush, Tear, Curl process).

- The applicant must have started production on or after 1st of April, 2020.

Benefits

Benefit Amount: ₹10/- per kilogram for Orthodox tea, Green tea, White tea, Oolong tea, Singhpo tea, Purple Tea, Yellow tea, or other Specialty tea

Special Rate: ₹12/- per kilogram for applications of Financial Year 2023-24 only (tea production year 2022-23).

Validity Period: Extended from Financial Year 2023-24 to 2027-28.

Disbursement Mode: Direct Benefit Transfer as reimbursement.

Claim Deadline: Latest by 30th June on completion of every financial year.

Additional Benefit: Provided in addition to any other subsidy claimed from the Tea Board of India or any other agency.
