Overview
The scheme aims to provide financial assistance to widowed women during remarriage. It offers a one-time support of ₹2,00,000 to eligible kalyani beneficiaries.
Details
The "Mukhyamantri Kalyani Vivah Sahayta Yojana" was launched by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Government of Madhya Pradesh. The aim to provide social security and financial support to widowed women at the time of their remarriage. Under this scheme, a one-time financial assistance is deposited into the beneficiary’s savings bank account to help ensure economic stability and dignified reintegration into family life.
Exclusions
• The applicant cannot claim benefits from other marriage assistance schemes such as Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah/Nikah Yojana or Nishaktjan Vivah Protsahan Yojana
• Marriages performed before 06 April 2018 are not eligible.
• The Kalyani's (widow's) marriage is solemnized in a mass marriage ceremony under the Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah/Nikah Yojana, only the benefit of the Kalyani Vivah Yojana will be admissible.
• The Kalyani herself is disabled, or her husband is disabled, or both spouses are disabled, only the benefit of the Kalyani Vivah Sahayta will be admissible in that situation as well.
Benefits
• Financial assistance of ₹2,00,000 is provided to widowed women at the time of their remarriage
• Financial assistance is directly deposited into the beneficiary’s bank savings account.
• The assistance is provided only once in a lifetime.
Eligibility Criteria
1. The applicant must be a widowed woman (Kalyani).
2. The applicant must be a permanent resident of Madhya Pradesh, and her spouse must also be a permanent resident.
3. The applicant must be 18 years or older, and her husband must be 21 years or older at the time of marriage.
4. The applicant must not be an income taxpayer.
5. The applicant must not be a government employee of the state, central government, or government-funded corporations and institutions.
6. The applicant must not be receiving a family pension from any government source.
7. There is no restriction of BPL under the scheme.
8. The husband must not have any living wife from a previous marriage.
9. There will be no compulsion to marry in a mass marriage ceremony for the Kalyani Vivah Yojana; individual marriages will also be considered valid.
10. The Kalyani has minor children, the responsibility for the children's upkeep will be jointly borne by the Kalyani and her husband.
