Launched on 15th August 1995, the "Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme" is a welfare scheme by the Social Welfare Department, Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The scheme provides ₹1,000/- per month to widows aged 40 and above from Below Poverty Line BPL families. The pension is funded 70% by the Centre and 30% by the Union Territory.
