The scheme “Financial Assistance for Natural Disaster” was introduced by the Department of Revenue, Government of Uttarakhand. A: Damage assessment is conducted by the Regional Revenue Sub-Inspector and related departments through a field investigation under the supervision of the Tehsildar or Sub-Divisional Magistrate.

A: The process can be initiated either suo motu by the Revenue Administration or based on a report submitted by the affected person, a public representative, or local officials from the disaster-affected area.

Q: How are completely damaged buildings identified?
A: A three-member committee headed by the District Magistrate, including the Block Development Officer (or representative) and one Junior Engineer, identifies and verifies buildings that are completely damaged and unsafe for habitation.

A: After assessment, a report is prepared and submitted to the competent authority (Tehsildar/SDM/DM), who approves the relief amount as per the prescribed limits and guidelines.
