Disability Pension - West Bengal

Description
The West Bengal Disability Pension Scheme 2010 provides financial assistance to persons with disabilities who are unable to work and earn a living. The scheme is implemented by the Department of Women and Child Development and Social Welfare, Government of West Bengal.

Exclusions
• Individuals engaged in begging as a profession are not eligible for pension under this scheme.
• Individuals who do not beg professionally but receive occasional assistance are eligible if they meet other criteria.
• Disabled persons already receiving "Widow Pension," "Old Age Pension," "Farmers’ Pension," or pension under the "Family Pension Scheme" from the State Government, Central Government, or other concerns are not entitled to the pension under this scheme.

Eligibility Criteria
1. Applicant must be a disable person with 40% of disability.
2. The disabled person must be declared unsuitable for physical work by the respective Medical officer with following disabilities :
3. - Deaf and Dumb.
4. - Blind.
5. - Orthopedically handicapped.
6. - Mentally retarded
7. - Permanently incapacitated.
8. The disabled person is declared unsuitable for physical work by the respective Medical officer.
9. His / Her family income, if any, must not exceed ₹ 1,000/- per month.

11. - The applicant must be a citizen of India and a resident of West Bengal. **(OR)**
12. - The disabled person should have been a resident of the state of West Bengal for at least 10 years at the time of applying for the pension. **(OR)** - For disabled persons below 10 years old, the period of residence will be limited to the time span covered by the date of birth and the date of submission of the application.

Application Form for Pension shall be addressed to:-
The District Magistrate of the concerned District and shall be submitted to the Block Development Officer or the Executive Officer of the Panchayat Samity in case of the applicant residing in the rural areas under a Panchayat Samity.
