Description
The scheme “Fish Cage Culture” is a component under the “To Increase Fish Seed Production and Inland Fisheries Resources in Tribal Areas” scheme, introduced by the Agriculture, Farmers Welfare and Co-operation Department, Government of Gujarat. The scheme aims to increase fish production by rearing fish in reservoirs and generate employment opportunities for individuals engaged in inland fisheries. Under this scheme, financial assistance is provided for activities such as fish cage culture and fish seed stocking, benefiting primarily the Scheduled Tribe ST communities involved in inland fisheries. Objectives: - To increase fish production by rearing fish in reservoirs and provide employment to people involved in inland fisheries activities. - To boost fish farming or fishing activities in freshwater bodies. - Fishing in reservoirs, aquaculture in ponds, and catch from rivers increase fish production and boost inland fisheries. - The main objective is to provide employment opportunities to Scheduled Tribe fishermen in the state and increase fish production.

• Scheduled Tribe beneficiaries are eligible for 60% assistance of the unit cost of ₹3,00,000/- to ₹1,80,000/-, or 60% of the actual cost, whichever is less.
