The scheme aims to provide practical technical experience through live projects. Under this programme, a 6-month internship with a stipend of ₹20,000/- per month is offered to eligible engineering students.

The scheme “Technical Internship Programme” has been implemented by the National e-Governance Division NeGD , Digital India Corporation under the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology MeitY , Government of India, which offers students a valuable platform to gain practical experience in a real-world, professional environment. By working on live projects and collaborating with experienced professionals, interns develop critical technical and problem-solving skills. This exposure not only enhances their academic understanding but also equips them with industry-relevant competencies, preparing them for successful careers across diverse sectors. The internship also supports NeGD in tapping into fresh talent and innovative ideas, contributing to the organisation’s mission of advancing e-Governance initiatives.

• Eligible candidates have the opportunity to work as technical interns on NeGD projects and gain exposure to real-world professional environments.
• The Technical Internship Scheme in NeGD will be conducted bi-annually i.e., - January Session and July Session.
• The duration of the Technical Internship will be fixed for six (06) months and will not be extended further.
• A token stipend of ₹ 20,000/- per month would be paid to an Intern, subject to satisfactory performance, duly certified by his / her Mentor.
• NeGD will issue certificates to interns upon the satisfactory completion of the internship (six months), subject to certification by their Mentor.
• Regular attendance and satisfactory performance are a must for the stipend & certificate.
Eligibility Criteria
1. The applicant must be a resident of India.
2. The applicant must be an Engineering Graduate or equivalent, with at least 75% marks in the qualifying degree.
3. The applicant must be an Engineering Post–Graduate or equivalent, with at least 75% marks in the qualifying degree.
4. The applicant must have passed their qualifying degree in the last two years, and in the current year. Students of the current year are eligible to apply for this technical internship scheme.

Interested and eligible students must submit their applications in the prescribed application form available on the NeGD’s website.
The Technical Internship Programme will be an offline internship, which requires the intern to visit the organisation daily to adhere to the NeGD's working hours.
Interns will be shortlisted based on marks in the qualifying degree and will be selected for the internship through interviews / based on the judgment by the internal selection committee as per the NeGD’s requirements.
Weightage to be given to students who have done relevant certification courses.
Weightage to the top 100 colleges per year as per the ranking given by the National Institutional Ranking Framework by the Ministry of Education.
The selection of the candidate will be based on the prescribed weightage formula.
The Selection Committee will consist of the following members:
Representative of the concerned Department/ Project.
Nominated member from HR.
The Committee would compile its recommendations, and the same would be presented to the President & CEO, NeGD, for the final decision.
