The "Machha Chasa Pain Nua Pokhari Khola Yojana (Matsya Pokhari Yojana)" aims to boost fish production in Odisha by creating new water bodies through pond excavation. It targets income generation & employment via freshwater aquaculture. Subsidies are available for pond areas between 0.2 to 2 hectare

Description
The "Machha Chasa Pain Nua Pokhari Khola Yojana Matsya Pokhari Yojana " was launched by the Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Department, Government of Odisha. The scheme aims to create additional water bodies for intensive aquaculture in inland sector through excavation of new tanks/ponds and income and employment generation through promotion of freshwater aquaculture. Implementation Target and Area of Operation: The scheme was implemented in the State of Odisha. The district wise annual target shall be communicated by the Director of Fisheries at the beginning of the financial year. The target is interchangeable depending on the progress made by the DLOs.

• The following tank model/ models shall be executed by the beneficiary:
• NOTE:
• 40% subsidy shall be provided to the General category and 50% to SC/ST/Woman categories of beneficiaries as per the scheme.
• The subsidy was released in two installments to the beneficiary's bank account through DBT, by the DFO. Fifty percent (50%) of e the tank excavation work is completed and the remaining 50% of the subsidy shall be released after stocking advanced-sized fingerlings.

Eligibility Criteria
1. The applicant should be a permanent resident of Odisha.
2. The applicant should possess identity and residential proof including an Aadhar card.
3. The applicant should have a bank account in his/her name in the State of Odisha.
4. The applicant should have requisite land free from all encumbrances.
5. The pond area must be between 0.2 to 2.00 hectares with a minimum water depth of 6 feet.
6. Previous beneficiaries of similar subsidies are eligible for additional subsidies up to a total of 2 hectares.
