In the scheme "Kharmore Sonchidia Award" by the Forest Department, Government of Madhya Pradesh, the farmers are rewarded with ₹5,000/- if a Kharmor bird is sighted in the private land of the farmer and ₹10,000/- if a Golden bird is sighted in the private land of the farmer. The farmers are rewarded provided they ensure the protection of the birds, their eggs, and their habitat on their private land.
