Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What happens if a student takes more than three attempts to clear the 12th standard examination, and how is the forfeiture of the deposit handled?
A: If a student exceeds three attempts or takes more than two years from the first attempt, the deposited amount of [?]25,000 is automatically forfeited and credited to the Government Treasury. There is no provision for appeal in such cases.
Q: As a divorced mother with three SC daughters, can all my daughters apply for this scheme, or is there a family-wise restriction?
A: The scheme explicitly limits benefits to up to 2 girl children per family. Even if all three daughters meet other eligibility criteria, only two can receive the benefit, and you would need to choose which two will apply.
Q: If a student changes her stream between 11th and 12th standard (example: from Science to Commerce), does it affect her eligibility for the scheme?
A: No, changing streams does not affect eligibility. The scheme allows students from any stream (Science/Arts/Commerce/Vocational/ITI) as long as they pass 12th standard within the stipulated timeframe.
Q: If the applicant's caste certificate is under process, can she submit the application with the acknowledgment receipt and provide the certificate later?
A: The portal requires mandatory upload of a valid caste certificate during application. Acknowledgment receipts or provisional documents are not accepted, so students should ensure they have a valid certificate before starting the application.
Q: How is the fixed deposit of ₹25,000 structured - can the student access it immediately after passing 12th standard?
A: The amount is provided as a fixed deposit in joint names of the girl child and a government-nominated officer. The specific terms of deposit access and maturity are determined by the government officer assigned to the case.
Q: If a student's application is rejected by the school during verification, what is the process for appeal or resubmission?
A: If rejected, the school can return the application to the student for corrections. The student can then make necessary changes and resubmit. Multiple resubmissions are allowed as long as it's within the application deadline.
Q: What happens if there are discrepancies between the Aadhaar card details and school records? How should such cases be handled?
A: Students should ensure all documents match before applying. In case of discrepancies, they should get their school records updated to match their Aadhaar details first, as the portal uses Aadhaar as the primary identification document.
Q: Can a student who completed her 10th standard from another state but is now studying 11th in Goa apply for this scheme?
A: Yes, the scheme focuses on current education status rather than previous schooling. As long as the student meets category criteria and has valid Goa documentation, she can apply.
