Description
The “Flower Area Expansion” scheme is implemented by the Department of Horticulture, Government of Uttarakhand. It aims to promote and expand flower cultivation by providing cultivators in Uttarakhand access to quality flower planting material at a subsidized cost, thereby increasing flower production and enhancing farmers’ income.

Benefits
• To encourage flower production, flower planting material (bulbs, plants, and seeds) is provided to cultivators at a 50% subsidy on the total cost, applicable for a maximum area of 4 hectares, as follows:
• For open flowers, planting material worth up to ₹20,000/- per hectare is provided.
• For stalked flowers, planting material worth up to ₹50,000/- per hectare is provided.
• For bulbous flowers, planting material worth up to ₹75,000/- per hectare is provided.
• (For example, if 1 kg of marigold seeds costs ₹200/-, the cultivator pays ₹100/- at the Horticulture Mobile team Center, while the government provides a subsidy of ₹100/-, allowing the cultivator to obtain the seeds for ₹100/-.)
