Description
The "Birsa Harit Gram Yojana" by the Rural Development Department, Government of Jharkhand, aims to promote afforestation and provide sustainable livelihood opportunities for marginalized communities. Under this scheme, block and linear plantation activities are conducted on common and private lands, benefiting Scheduled Castes SC , Scheduled Tribes ST , landless families, and other economically weaker sections. The scheme is implemented by the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act MGNREGA framework. Objective: The objectives include improving green cover, generating rural employment, and ensuring environmental sustainability through a structured three-phase plantation model.
