Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan has released a notification for the Class 1 admissions for the academic session 2026–27. The online registration for admission to Class 1 (and Balvatika in selected Kendriya Vidyalayas) for the 2026-27 session started on 20 March 2026 at 10:00 AM and will close on 2 April 2026. Parents and guardians can apply online through the official admission portal. No application fee is charged for any category. Admission to Class 1 is granted through a lottery system based on priority categories and reservation rules, without any entrance test.

KVS Class 1 Admission Eligibility Criteria

• The child must have completed Kindergarten (KG) or equivalent pre-primary education from a recognized school.

• No entrance examination is conducted for Class 1 admission.

• Admission is subject to availability of seats in the respective Kendriya Vidyalaya and fulfillment of priority category rules.

• The child should be 6 years to 8 years old as on 31 March 2026.

  • Minimum age: 6 years (born on or before 31 March 2020)

  • Maximum age: 8 years (born on or after 1 April 2018)

  • Age relaxation is applicable only as per KVS guidelines for specific categories (check official notification).

Documents Required for KVS Class 1 Admission

At the time of document verification (after provisional list), parents need to upload/submit:
